A Short Day of Travel From Munich to Roggenburg

Most all of us boarded the bus this morning to head to Roggenburg – a small German town.  But before we left, we had to do a head count.

The town was built around a beautiful Abbey at which we had the honor of going to Mass at this morning to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost.  Pentecost is a big feast day in much of Bavaria – tomorrow folks are even off of work and school.

As I alluded to earlier, the day began with about an hour and a half bus ride before which Fr. Jay gave us a brief address about the day and we were saddened to hear of the news of the passing of Father Thomas Hagendorf, O. Praem:

Though we received bad news on the bus, today was a full day of prayer and remembrance of the feast of Pentecost.  As such, we had the opportunity to spend some of the day of prayer.  Mass began at 10:00 and was quite full, and then we had the opportunity to watch a beautiful choir concert in the Abbey Church, followed by a tour of the Abbey and then Vespers.  With all that prayer, it was time to enjoy a nice meal at the Abbey dinning room.  Enjoy some of the photos from the day – I will post more tomorrow, the internet connection is really slow so I am having difficulty uploading.  Enjoy.
